In that type of sprayer the hose hangs down beneath the counter in a loop and water stays in that loop all the time between uses. Many of us don't use the sprayer every day; often water sits in there for several days between uses and it becomes stagnant. Gas dissolved in the water works its way out of the water but is trapped between the water in the bottom of the loop and the "trigger ". When you release it, the first thing you smell is the gas. -- The smell goes away if you run the water for a minute or so, right? Manufacturers have solved the problem! New faucets now available at most stores have the sprayer built right into the faucet that you use all the time so every time you run a little water in the kitchen, that hose gets flushed out. To use it as a sprayer, you just grab the end of the regular faucet and pull. Some are even magnetic. I bought one last winter and I love it! No more stinky sprayer ! |
